Little Women, Young Moon By: H.S. St.Ours
Young Moon can’t remember a time that she wasn’t drawing circles. These circles were a part of her life, speaking to the drawings, seeing and hearing from them, all visions warning her of bad things to come.
Many years after Young Moon’s father passed away, her mother shows her these long ago drawings that she’s kept. For some reason, she denies to her mom that she remembers the drawings, but she indeed does remember them. Not only were they her life, her dad understood them as well. Looking at the drawings again, Young Moon starts remembering their family life back then, and all that happened.
After Young Moon’s father ask for one of her paintings, she finds out he is involved in the terraforming of the worlds of the Inner Solar System. This causes the family the need to escape from China because of the motion he set for a world-shaking disaster of epic proportions.
Young Moon is a very smart, very talented young lady. As she tells her story, there is so much going on that you have to stay focused or you will have to go back and re-read! The author weaves a story of inventions in the future world that lead to hatred and bitterness because of the horrific events and issues they caused.
I enjoyed reading Young Moon’s story, though it was sad in the end and her hatred of her father was understandable. Will Young Moon ever forgive her father? And will they even survive the extreme catastrophes they face?
I encourage anyone to read Young Moon’s moving story. You will be so fascinated by the plot that you will keep reading, with enough suspense that you just can’t put the book down.
Ok I looked up terraforming in The Free Dictionary by Farlex, and thought I would post it in the review to help understand this book. It is the hypothetical process by which the climate, surface, and known properties of Mars would be deliberately changed with the goal of making it habitable by humans and other terrestrial life.
