Lil's Way by Colleen Baxter Sullivan is a breathtaking suspense novel about a woman's tumultuous life with an identity disorder. As a little girl, Lil's life has been one horrific scene after another. When she is finally taken from her abusive home, Lil is greeted with more pain, abuse, and lack of love. Without her family, and most importantly, without any memory of her rescue, Lil is searching for answers. No one will give her what she desperately seeks. Lil is all but abandoned. As the years pass, Lil learns how to cope with everything the best she can. At sixteen, her life changes and she finds a friend and a more secure home at The Sister House. Only, how long will her new security last?
The disturbing and tragic illness of Disassociative Identity Disorder is eloquently portrayed in the moving suspense novel, Lil's Way, by Colleen Baxter Sullivan. From the beginning, the reader is drawn into Lil's world, trying to figure out what is reality and what is fantasy. Although the story jumps from time to time, visiting significant points in Lil's life, I felt like the author did a pretty good job keeping the story moving. There were only a few times where I got lost, and it was only for several moments. The author did a marvelous job of showing the causes of DID and progression of this tragic disorder. This is a well written and magnificent story, and I highly recommend this novel to those who love suspense.
