Light Among the Shadows by Jennifer Leigh Pezzano is an emotional read as Lara Peterson runs from years of grief. Her marriage was built on what was safe. When tragedy hits, there isn't enough to keep Lara and John together, and she knows she must leave before she drowns in despair. Lara stops in a little town in Montana, feeling like she can finally breathe. Taking a chance, she applies for a job caring for a blind man on his ranch. Peter makes a poor decision, and an accident takes most of what he cares about away. Now blind, he knows he needs help but is too proud to accept it gracefully. Gradually, Lara and Peter open up and expose their pasts. Can two broken people mend their lives enough to forge a new one? Pride and old wounds are hard to overcome.
I found Light Among the Shadows an inspirational read as Jennifer Leigh Pezzano takes her characters down dark valleys with heavy burdens. The journey back from grief and great loss is a rocky one, but the author skillfully navigates her characters to the other side. This novel is superbly written, with a plot that will make many of her readers cry. The action moves swiftly from a dramatic event to a time of healing as they work through each broken piece. The author brings Lara and Peter alive with an edgy precision. This is a novel I didn't want to put down, and I loved how the story was resolved. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves a heartwarming romance.
