The succinct self-help guide, Life Tech: People Skills and Self-Management by Ernest Llynn Lotecka offers techniques for achieving personal goals and development. It facilitates growth in various skills including decision-making, communication, relationship-building, emotional management, focus and goal-setting, wellness, and self-management. On the topic of emotional management, for instance, it provides techniques for assessing one’s inner messages, becoming aware of internal thoughts and feelings and managing them. With regard to success and achievement, the work explores four important keys which include planning, preparation, practice, and persistence. On focusing and paying attention to intentions, the work explains that when more focus is paid to achieve a task, more capabilities arise. Attention also results in a more fulfilling learning process.
Life Tech is a straightforward read that can be utilized by anyone who wants to pursue growth and development. It is practical, offering ample space for self-reflection and cultivating awareness. I loved that each of the skills explored in the work can be applied in any area of life including business, family, and personal life. It also opened my eyes to new possibilities and opportunities for growth. The work’s coverage is broad and includes different aspects of self-management. I felt it overly relies on lists rather than discussions. Many of its chapters are brief and the discussions offered might not be sufficient for some readers. However, Life Tech by Ernest Llynn Lotecka is a helpful guide with useful questions and techniques for self-reflection and personal development. Readers will love its practical approach.
