Rachel was once an ordinary girl who got selected to be a hostess for OSM Aviation. But a chance meeting with Maggie, a high-class escort in London, changed the course of her life. She saw in Maggie what she wanted to be — a sexy, attractive, and wealthy woman living on top. Seduced by the energy of wealth and luxury, “the handsome faces and sharp eyes of rich men,” and the glitter of money, she surrenders with reckless abandon to a new style of life. Life on Top: The Secret Confessions of a High-Class Escort by A.D. Hutchinson follows Rachel’s adventures with men. When she started on this path, it was about the money and the wealth. Then she quickly discovers an addiction for sex that can become uncontrollable, but in all this, can she go back to the life she once had?
This narrative has bold and mature themes and graphically describes sexual scenes. Written in an engrossing first person narrative voice and in prose that conveys the sensual aspects of the story, the reader is pulled in right away. A.D. Hutchinson crafts a story with powerful characters, including the sister of the protagonist, Mel, allowing us to have a clear idea of the nature of relationships in the story and family dynamics. The exploration of the emotions of the characters is impeccable and the reader can actually feel the heat as Rachel engages in sex in a limousine or as she makes a selection of underwear at a high class shop. The writing is focused and the conflict develops with the protagonist wrestling against her conscience. Even in the peak of ecstasy, there is something that eludes us. She can’t have it all. She confesses: “I liked sex, but most of my partners had been more about the final boom than the art of the act. What was it like to be with a man who knew a woman’s body?” Life on Top: The Secret Confessions of a High-Class Escort unveils what it really means to be a high class escort, a book with a very important question: Can money, sex, and fame buy happiness?
