What is life really about, and what can we do to live a meaningful Christian life? Life comes with its fair share of challenges, but as Christians, we are called o to be pilgrims and serve a higher purpose. The life of a pilgrim is not easy. Longing and anguish are part of the reality of a maturing Christian, but despite the uncertainties, there is hope. It is important not to lose faith. With sorrow comes joy, and God promises to wipe away the tears of those who believe in him. Good Christians should look at both internal and external factors that are affecting them, and embrace a longing for an authentic God, not just the desire for blessings and the ending of sorrow. But why do people start this journey with zeal and eventually fall back? To find out, get a copy of Life on the Road: Longing and Pilgrimage on the Way to God by Mark S. Dorn.
Life on the Road by Mark S. Dorn contains a wealth of information. I loved the way that Mark provided additional information not only from the scriptures but also from other books by great authors. It was also easy to relate to the theme as the author quoted personal examples, such as his experiences with friends. This made the book highly effective in passing on the intended message. The candid and conversational tone used is also welcoming. Despite this book being Christian based, I believe all readers can benefit greatly from the perspectives it offers on issues such as reflection and everyday living. The book is written in easy-to-understand language that makes it accessible to all readers. I cannot wait to read more by this author.
