A ghost whisperer is hired to investigate supernatural happenings at a soon-be-opened retro-forties nightclub in the extraordinary novella, Lady Sings The Boos (An Indigo Eady Cozy Mystery Short Story) by Gwen Gardner. Indigo Eady has the uncanny ability to see and hear ghosts. Her Victorian Madam, Aunt Franny's incessant ghostly interference in her life verifies that fact. With few job opportunities at her disposal at the moment, Indigo uses her unnatural attributes to assist others with unwanted spectral pests. When the disturbances at the nightclub take a violent turn, Indigo's childhood friend, Badger, encourages the new owner to hire her. With the drama surrounding Franny's crush on the "bad boy" specter, and his gangster-like sidekick who is smitten with Franny, can Indigo get her job done? Or will they become the next ones to suffer the incensed phantom's wrath?
Lady Sings The Boos by Gwen Gardner is a cozy mystery in a teacup. It is a humorous novella with a captivating plot and endearing characters. Cleverly portrayed, Franny is a delightful and whimsical protagonist. Not only are her outrageous and laughable antics entertaining, but they also move the story forward at a brisk pace. Indigo's character is so perfectly normal that her ghostly sidekick is an excellent foil for her. The contrast between the two creates an amusing ambiance. It is a charming short story with winning characters, an intriguing puzzle that dates back to the Second World War, and a romantic conclusion. Everyone who relishes a short, yet entertaining ghost story, where the dearly departed ghost-bust with the living, will love this! It is good, clean fun!
