I am originally from Missouri. After two years of college I joined the U. S. Navy. I have for many years written Christmas new letters to friend and family, finding writing to be a great channel for funnelling my thoughts, experiences and humorous proclivities. I then wrote sixty short stories in six months. The first ten that I completed are now in "Kiss My McCracken". I now live in Florida and am currently working on my next book of short stories.

Kiss My McCracken: And other original tales in the life of Winston Weston by Ernest S. Martin is a collection of ten stories following its titular protagonist in hilarious detail through his most memorable life and times. Shared in vignettes, Weston becomes a fully fleshed out character (as do his cohorts and friends, which comprise of a colorful cast) and we are taken on a host of (mis)adventures. Weston seems to gravitate toward trouble, albeit unintentionally, which collides at the most inopportune times, often with uproarious results.
There is a levity to Ernest S. Martin's writing that pushes Kiss My McCracken into a field of uplifting humor in the face of antagonistic mini plot lines. Winston Weston is immediately engaging, something of an "Everyman" who has the added bonus of worldwide travel and enough life experience to provide an interesting narrative, but not so much that his musings aren't dour. Speaking of which, Musings happens to be my favorite chapter. "For several years, I was immensely worried concerning the collapse of civilized society and the aftermath of the grid going down from war, a zombie apocalypse, famine, or some cataclysmic horror not yet perceived. I must say that I don’t really care anymore."
With a skilled pen that prevents Kiss My McCracken from entering the realm of crass, slapstick comedy, Martin has proven himself - and his quasi-memoir - to be adept in the art of comedic writing, and I look forward to seeing what he comes up with next. Kiss My McCracken is a hilarious gem!
