The loss of a loved one is unfortunate, but it’s an undeniable fact that every human being sooner or later has to face. Liza Porter expresses the emotions and events after the loss of her sister in an emotional collection of poems in which we can understand the feelings and some situations she had to go through. In Keep the Singing, we see a very creative way of moving from deep depression to recovery. Through the words, the feelings are expressed clearly. The poems are about memories of different and very significant moments in all kinds of situations, from childhood anecdotes to what is involved in day-to-day interactions. This book can help us appreciate life from another perspective and find the motivation to rediscover our path.
Love, courage, and nostalgia are the clearest emotions that can be perceived in Liza Porter's words. The poems encourage us to continue, to appreciate the time we can spend with our loved ones: every moment is important. Keep the Singing encourages us to understand how natural loss is and not reject it. At the same time, words are very comforting because they teach us that we can continue, that it will be painful, but by accepting the help and company that our friends and family offer us, we can deal with the pain. This book is very special because it gives us a real perspective on life and how to continue in an ever-changing world where anything can happen, where we need to learn to adapt.
