Jet Girrl and Mr. Bizarro: Surviving Natural Disaster by Nowell Berg chronicles the flooding that occurred in the hometown of Jet Girrl and Mr. Bizarro. Jet Girrl is an air hostess by profession. Her beau depends on Jet Girrl for support. Unfortunately, when Jet Girrl was away on duty, their district had a downpour of rain and became flooded. Mr. Bizarro and other neighbours were forced to evacuate their homes. Mr. Bizarro had a suspicion that Der Teufel, the manager of the clean-up campaign, had ulterior motives. Both Mr. Bizarro and Jet Girrl suspected that Der Teufel knew that their housing development was flood prone. He was profiting financially from their disaster!
Jet Girrl and Mr. Bizarro: Surviving Natural Disaster is an interesting, down to earth novel. I love the full page illustrations throughout the book. They add a realistic appeal to the storyline. They also encourage the average reader to become more engrossed in the plot. I enjoyed the easy going relationship between the two main characters. The use of raw expletives and interjections between the two of them gives the romance a contemporary feel. Lovers cannot be starry eyed all the time. This lends to the realistic edge of the story as most of us know that modern day romances are quite similar to the one portrayed in the story. The theme of good overcoming evil was thoroughly developed by author Nowell Berg. I enjoyed reading this novel. I recommend it to all lovers of contemporary romance or drama.
