Author Biography

Kendall T. Shoulders received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mathematics in 1996. It was during his long hours of studying that he realized how temporary the use of a Mathematics degree would be. He made a promise that after graduation, he would study the bible with the same vigor and hours as he had studied Mathematics in college.

Kendall’s interest in theology and prophecy began to deepen more and more in the 1990’s as he became enlightened about the real truths of scripture and not just the traditional rhetoric.

He began teaching biblical studies in January 2003 at Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America in Athens, AL under the direction of his pastor Robert L. Rice.

Non-denominational by perspective, he is often called upon to teach at various congregations while bringing a unique perspective to the scriptures.

He continues to teach and assist in preparing in-depth studies for his current church and also for friends and churches who are seeking to enrich their understanding of scripture.

Kendall T. Shoulders continues to tackle the tough subject matters of prophecy avoided by many who fear controversy. Along with authoring ‘A Purpose-Filled God: Shadows of the Almighty’ and his current work ‘Jesus is a Worm and a Snake too…..among other things’.

Kendall T. Shoulders is also an enthusiastic Gospel Saxophonist.

Jesus (Yeshua) is a Worm...and a Snake Too, Among Other Things by Kendall T. Shoulders takes a fresh new look at the Bible and some of its contents. Jesus has been described in glowing terms inside and outside Christianity. But, in different parts of the scripture, he has described himself as a worm, specifically, a Tola worm. Of all the creatures, why would Jesus choose this particular worm to put his point across? What characteristics of the Tola worm are comparable to the sacrifices made by Jesus for His people? What symbolic power does the Tola worm signify? If Jesus is the son of God, and the Alpha and Omega, then how does the Tola worm allegory fit into all this?

Wow! What an interesting and engrossing book. I was fascinated with the writing from the word "go". This has been the single best read on the various aspects of the Bible that lay people need help with to understand and appreciate. So many things that I personally was not aware of are explained in such a wonderful way. One feels God must have surely guided the author while writing this book. The body and blood sacrifice of the Tola worm is so similar to the ultimate sacrifice of the Savior. The story of Jonah and the Tola worm really helped me to understand the concept of God's grace. Kendall T. Shoulders has succeeded in putting across his research and interpretations in a very succinct and interesting manner. Kudos to him and his awesome book.

Jesus (Yeshua) is a Worm...and a Snake Too, Among Other Things is a book about Christianity and religious exploration by Kendall T. Shoulders. This short but intense read explores two main areas of the representation of Christ; first explaining and pontificating around the tola worm, a long-appreciated but now forgotten creature, then looking at forms of Christ in the Old Testament. The author asks readers to view the many forms of Christ, from those in which he deems himself as a leader and a mighty co-creator, to those where he compares himself to a worm. Readers are left to answer Jesus’ vital question of who Jesus is to them and how they choose to view him.

Kendall T. Shoulders has produced a devoted and fascinating study of biology, ancient beliefs, and biblical Christianity in Jesus (Yeshua) is a Worm...and a Snake Too, Among Other Things. As a non-religious person myself, I found Shoulders’ exploration to be well explained and constantly backed by quotations and additional facts, whilst also delivered in a conversational style that felt engaging but not preachy. Readers may not agree with all the ideas presented in this book, but it’s unarguable that this is a well-crafted and thought provoking read. Shoulders has a talent for re-explaining the ethos and importance of Jesus from a unique new perspective, which opens the doors to deeper understanding of what the Bible really means to different people, and goes some way to explaining how such radically different opinions in Christianity came about.

Jesus (Yeshua) is a Worm...and a Snake Too, Among Other Things by Kendall T. Shoulders: this is a title to grab your attention in more ways than one. The phrase 'Jesus is a worm' is not as blasphemous as the initial impression it invokes. Kendall Shoulders uses historical and cultural references to bring a revelation about the tola worm and how God used it as a symbol throughout the Old and New Testament to point forward to His son. Digging into the biology about this particular worm, Kendall takes the reader on a concise and chronological walk through the Bible from Genesis to Matthew. After showing Jesus throughout the Bible in the images provided in reference to the tola worm, Kendall then turns to some specific instances dealing with the snake, in particular demonstrating how God poured out punishment on Jesus for the sins of the world. Very well laid out, not deviating from its theme, this book would make for excellent study material.

The moment I say the title, I’m bound to get some funny looks from whoever is around me. This makes it even more fun to start expounding on some of the things I learned from Kendall Shoulders, including a large number of pictures I had not thought how to connect with Jesus from the Old Testament. I like that Kendall doesn’t run after every rabbit trail that could possibly be found in the scope of what he presents. The chapters are well thought out and placed in a chronological order. I think this book would make good study material both for personal meditation as well as in a group setting since there is lots of food for thought and each person is likely to be struck by something different as they work their way through. I would recommend this book for those studying the Bible for a better understanding of how God was making ready and preparing evidence to prove Jesus was and is His Son.

Don’t let the title turn you off. Jesus (Yeshua) is a Worm... and a Snake Too, Among Other Things, is a fresh look into the prophecies of the Old Testament. Could a worm prophetically speak of Christ? Kendall T. Shoulders challenges the reader with his analogy of the Tola worm mentioned in Psalm 22:6. This prophetic passage states, “But I am a worm...” Chapter by chapter, Shoulders unlocks hidden meanings and the significance of this unusual worm noted in the scriptures. Then, he compares these findings with the prophecies pertaining to Jesus Christ, boldly proclaiming, “Even in what man would consider obscure passages, Jesus is there.”

Kendall T. Shoulder’s goal for Jesus (Yeshua) is a Worm... and a Snake Too, Among Other Things is to prove that the entire Bible points to Jesus. Throughout the narrative, Shoulders asks the reader thought provoking questions, and then leads them to the discovery of answers. By explaining the symbolism, imagery and figurative descriptions of the Bible, he brings a deeper understanding of prophecies. Although profound, he does not confound the reader. However, there were a few illuminating concepts I never considered before. The book never strays off topic. It is well researched, and is filled with insightful scripture references. Giving further insight into the Old Testament, Shoulders includes a bonus book, A Purpose Filled God: Shadows of the Almighty. It continues the theme that the Old Testament is a shadow of the personality of Jesus.

It is actually two books in one, the first dealing with the Tola Worm and the second with types of Christ in the OT. A heart warming study of a very important scripture on the Tola worm, that is often overlooked and unappreciated. It covers the occurences of the worm in various parts of the OT in a warm devotional way, much like Matthew Henry, who is also quoted. A very appropriate book to read and meditate upon for Easter and passover. This review was done on a complimentary e copy of the book.

I was always intrigued by the Tola worm in relationship to Christ and the meaning inherent in that relationship. However, I never thought to look at all the instances of the Tola in the Old Testament. Kendall Shoulders does a wonderful job of exploring the Old Testament references to the Tola worm and putting those references in context of Christ's work on the cross. His interpretations led me to search the Scriptures in search of Christ. If you want to read a book that inspires you to search the Scripture and learn more about the work of Christ for you, read this book!
