Kady Toole is a 16 year old author and illustrator from a small town in northern Kansas. "Izzy the Cowgirl Corgi" is inspired by Kady's "real-life" cowboy corgi, Izzy. The two are inseparable.

Izzy is the Sheriff’s corgi. She loves her owner and her town, but she’s a little jealous of the sheriff’s mustang horses that get all the attention. It’s always the mustangs who catch the bandits and help keep the town safe. So, the sheriff takes extra special care of his mustangs. One day, while the mustangs are getting their regular pedicure, a team of bandits robs the town’s bank and, since the mustangs are unavailable, they manage to escape with the loot. This is Izzy’s big chance to save the town, re-claim the stolen money and become the town’s new hero. Is she up to the task?
Kady Toole’s picture book story, Izzy the Cowgirl Corgi, is a light-hearted, fun adventure set in the good ole wild west. The story is told in graphic novel style bubbles of conversation between the different characters. As the author introduces the main characters, the reader shares a chuckle or two at the unusual antics of the sheriff’s famed mustangs. But, it’s really the corgi, cute little Izzy, who attracts the most attention and, in the end, saves the day. This is a clever rendition of a traditional wild west story, complete with bank robbers, horses, dogs, and those who care about their little town. The illustrations are charming and help carry the story along. Everyone will quickly fall in love with Izzy and want to give her the attention she so craves. This is a fun and funny read by a very talented young writer and artist.
