Indemnity by Paula Wiseman is book #2 in her Covenant of Trust series. Seven years after Bobbie forgave her husband, Chuck, for his affair with Tracy Ravenna, she thought everything was behind them. That is until the new school year began and Jackson Charles Ravenna is assigned to her class; Bobbie realizes he is not only Tracy's son but possibly Chuck's as well.
When Chuck decides to pursue joint custody of the boy, Bobbie fights him as once again their marriage is tested. Not only did Tracy hide the fact that she had a son and that Chuck was the father, but she also hid her past. As Chuck strives to do the right thing, Bobbie struggles with the hate that is festering inside her and the power and faith to forgive as God works with her.
This is a very deeply written and touching novel, a book that digs to the very core of one’s life and the heart and soul of one's struggles. It shows that one has to learn to lean unto the Lord and not unto his own understanding. When we learn to let go and let God the situation can change mightily. This is a strong book on Family, Faith, Hope and Love. However, one needs to read the first book in the series, Contingency, to have a better understanding of what Bobbie is going through in this book.
