Those who are hell-bent on having a successful future in Hollywood's mad world better not head there without reading Hollywood War Stories by Rick Friedberg. In less than 200 pages and 33 chapters, which are actually "Rules" rather than chapters, Rick Friedberg shares what he and others have learned throughout years of directing movies, commercials, TV documentaries, music videos and more. And what he discloses will make you think twice and question whether you are really are made of the right stuff to survive the battlefield of Hollywood.
Rick Friedberg's conversational style makes Hollywood War Stories an easy read. Chapters are short and the point. There's no time wasted on fancy writing or unnecessary description. Friedberg cuts to the chase and delivers the facts: what to look out for and what you need to succeed. He alerts the wannabes to the fact that there are thousands like them in Hollywood, running around with scripts in their hands, trying to make contacts and trying to get to the person who's going to make them huge.
Hollywood War Stories will confirm what you've always suspected about show biz i.e. marriages are a business designed to keep the stars in fans' eyes; book your next job before the current project is finished - you're worth a lot while you're hot and a little when you're not; and you cannot succeed in Hollywood without passion, without seizing every opportunity that comes your way to prove you have what the person with the money is looking for.
