Holding Superman's Hand: Under the Bar Lights by Amy Katherine is one of the best contemporary romances I have read this year. Amy Emerson is on top of the world. She has a college scholarship, and she has a job at Azure, the most happening bar in Texas. Nothing could stop her from reaching her dreams. There is only one issue; she is just 17 years old, and Mathew Abernathy believes she is too young to be bartending. Matt is a college graduate; his no-nonsense behavior is helpful in his job, but not in relationships. When the two meet, Matt is surprised that JR is ready to pay her in cash for six months until she is legal. As Matt and Amy become friends, they realize they have more in common than they originally thought. When they grow closer and sparks start to fly, Amy and Matt will realize they deserve to have the happiness they feel with each other.
I love romance novels. They are my jam, and I read a ton of romance novels in a year. Holding Superman’s Hand is hands down (pun intended) one of the best romance novels I have read this year, from its gorgeous cover to its brilliant plot. Amy’s character is a little complex and very vulnerable, to begin with. However, she develops into this beautifully courageous girl who faces her issues, her past, and her future head-on to succeed. Mathew, on the other hand, appears to be your typical romance hero, but readers are in for a surprise. He is not just handsome; he is also aware of his issues and works on them (shocking, I know). Amy Katherine did a fantastic job of creating these characters, developing them, and building her story around these outstanding people!
