Armed with the confidence that comes from a series of successful enterprises, Webster Golinkin decided that it was finally time to take the plunge and start up a business that was always close to his heart. Little did he realize that setting up a completely new idea in the healthcare sector that was already struggling would come with unique problems. Here Be Dragons: One Man’s Quest to Make Healthcare More Accessible & Affordable is his detailed account of the hoops he had to jump through, the opposition he faced, and the glass ceilings he had to break to create a name for himself in the industry.
Webster Golinkin gives us a first-hand account of the difficulties he encountered in a bid to make his dream a reality. The book is arranged in an orderly fashion as he gives a background into the origins of his interest in healthcare, using his early years as an entrepreneur as the springboard for his ideas. The unique aspect of this book is the way Golinkin analyzes each step he takes from a financial point of view before going into the medical angle. This shows he maintained an awareness of the global financial situation throughout his planning. An example of this is the analytic approach taken toward managing the RediClinics franchise during the 2008 meltdown. Golinkin gives credit to his colleagues where it is due and owns up to his mistakes admirably. Here Be Dragons is one book that I would encourage every aspiring entrepreneur to read before they take that first tentative step into the business world. The nuggets of wisdom in it are priceless.
