He Tried To Kill Me: The Untold Story of a Modern Day Christian Wife is Kenyata R. Love’s own brutally honest story of the ten years she spent trapped in a mentally, physically and sexually abusive marriage to a manipulative man who professed to be a Christian. However, this is not a plea for sympathy. It is an escape guide for any woman in such a relationship, and a warning to any woman approaching marriage with niggling doubts, however easily dismissed, or only expressed by one trusted friend. It opens with a diagram showing the balance of attitudes that enable men to ensnare vulnerable women, and closes with ten red flags that should never be ignored; they are warning signals of the behavioural patterns of male abusers.
He Tried To Kill Me: The Untold Story of a Modern Day Christian Wife by Kenyata R. Love made heartrending, painful reading for me, a happy wife in a Christian marriage. It is a brave book to have written. My plea to women everywhere is not to let Ms Love have published in vain. Read it, believe it, follow her advice, and do it now. Abusive men who promise to stop NEVER DO. Don’t be taken in by so-called Christian doctrines and accept that you are “a bad wife.” Remember, the Bible was written by men, for men, reflecting prevalent outdated attitudes. Consider Jesus Christ’s own words: “Suffer the little children to come unto me.” Did He specify only males? He did not; He loves impartially. Buy, believe, be brave.
