He Said His Name Was Micah by Tearra Rhodes is a mixed genre novel with elements of Christian fiction, romance, and suspense. This book would appeal most to a mixed audience of adults and young adults who enjoy Christian fiction with a hint of romance. Ava Howard is a young woman living in a house that her Aunt Joy allows her to use rent-free after her ex-fiancé, Wes, left her two weeks before to move back to Chicago with no explanation. Ava’s family always described her as deliberately and deliciously indecisive. It turns out that the description is spot on when Ava decides to step out on her porch to speak to Micah, even after he told her his name was Micah and that he was there to make her pay for Wes’s sins. Is Micah merely an old friend of Wes's joking around and looking for a bit of Christian help, or does he have a far darker reason for seeking Ava out?
He Said His Name Was Micah by Tearra Rhodes is an interesting story on the power of faith and love. Tearra Rhodes did a spectacular job in developing Ava and Micah into fully formed characters with their own goals, personalities, and ambitions. That start of the book is a bit slow, but it is necessary as it allowed me to really understand Ava as a character and that is part of what made the story so enticing once it sped up. My favorite part of the book was when I learned who Micah really was as that was the point where the plot kicked off and the story gained an action element. I really enjoyed reading this story and I hope the author decides to write a sequel!
