Harold and the Angel of Death by Gary McPherson begins with Harold Brown having nightmares of the past that give clues to his future. The man responsible for driving his father to suicide, John, is now dead, but he is haunting Harold at night. He must keep Parabolic Defense Systems from closing its doors and completing John’s goal of destroying everything important to Harold’s father. CIA agent Garcia Hernandez gives Harold the means to keep PDS from closing, expedite the criminal investigation surrounding the company, and gain new contracts but it comes with a price. Harold must work with Garcia on a special assignment in the Caribbean. So many questions and doubts play on Harold’s mind; the biggest one is, will he ever make it back physically and mentally?
If you read Joshua and the Shadow of Death, you will see Gary McPherson picks right up with Harold and the Angel of Death. This is the second novel in the Berserker series, which is just as captivating. The author combines the intrigue of Harold’s unique syndrome with the suspense of his mental stability to make this a complex thriller. It throws quickly Harold into a part Garcia is manipulating. It binds his lack of control to trigger his Berserker syndrome. Is that what Garcia is counting on? There is plenty of action to satisfy any lover of conspiracy thrillers. The author takes you to new places, scary places that roam on land and in the minds of men.
