Jamie Collins did a fantastic job with his latest poetry book entitled, Hard Rain & Thunderstorms. In the age of the Internet, it is extremely hard to be a poet. However, Collins' poetry speaks a lot in terms of the imaginative power of words. There are half-century poems jotted, ranging from love, romanticism, mountaineering, games, and death.
From start to finish, the poems are very short and cover only sixty-four pages. The poet shares love by simply stating, “I love you.” In a poem entitled, “Somewhere In My House of Cards," the poet reveals card games he loves and endures.
This book is so much better in poetic melodrama of an ordinary life. It's a tool, a guide, a way to get-along with everyday chores. I definitely recommend this to everyone who desire to read short and simple poetry. Plato once said, "At the touch of love, everyone becomes a poet." And after carefully reading his poetry book, I think this poet is surely in love or "at the touch of love."
