Halfway Home by Erin Mariah Murphy is a charming tale about a rescue dog. A pack of stray dog brothers lived in an abandoned house. While the rest would play, bark, and run around the house, one of the dogs, Zeke, preferred peace and quiet. He didn't like loud noises, and only the views of the creek and the sky from the window would soothe his mind. One day, a rescue worker named Maeve arrives at the house with her crew and takes Zeke and his brothers with them. Adoption day comes, and the dogs are adopted into their forever homes -- everyone except Zeke. Soon, it becomes clear that Zeke cannot stay in a noisy home with too much energy. What will Maeve do about it? Will Zeke find his forever home?
Lift your spirits with this heartwarming children's picture book. Inspired by a real-life story, Halfway Home finds a way into your heart and leaves you with a smile on your face. There are many homeless dogs and other animals in need of rescue, and this book sheds light on the issue in a way that young readers can understand and appreciate. Erin Mariah Murphy tells a beautiful story highlighting the plight of special dogs like Zeke. They need forever homes and aren't any less deserving of one. Zeke has a distinctive personality, captured brilliantly in the colorful illustrations by Anthony Richichi. I had a wonderful time reading this book. If you enjoy illustrated stories and have a soft spot for animals in need of rescue, Halfway Home is the book for you.
