Grounds for Murder by Lena Gregory is the second book in the Coffee & Cream Café Mysteries. Danika Delaney has a job she loves, ownership of her uncle’s old-fashioned malt shop, and she’ll do anything to turn it around. A mystery writer arrives here for a book signing, but one of the guests confronts the writer and accuses him of plagiarism. Danika visits the writer at his inn the next day, expecting to offer her apologies, but instead, she stumbles over his body. His coffee was poisoned, and Danika wants to know why. As she starts her investigation, the heat is on, and she must find the killer before the killer finds her and writes her ending for her. Can she solve the murder in time, or is it all over for Danika?
Grounds for Murder by Lena Gregory is the second in the series, and although I didn’t read the first one, I had no trouble following this book. That said, as with any series, reading them in order is best. This is an action-packed story that will have you turning the pages until you’ve finished it. Full of twists and turns, it will keep you guessing all the way through an intricate plot with plenty of suspects. The characters are well-developed into real people that you can relate to, and you’ll be on Danika’s side all the way through. This looks like it’s shaping up to be a fun series, full of humor, mystery, and mayhem, and it’s highly recommended for anyone who loves cozy mysteries and whodunnits with plenty of go in them.
