Inspired by his own grandaughter's amusing escapades, Rick Woodland brings readers a short and sweet Christmas story with Grandpa's Nativity Scene. The book follows the narration of a five-year-old child about to visit her grandparents' home for Christmas. The child has always been close to her grandfather, who, after his cancer diagnosis years ago, retired and learned to carve wood. On this year's Christmas, Grandpa is creating a nativity scene on the piano. After her cousins have their turn, the little girl finally gets her chance to put the pieces where they belong. However, as she leaves for dinner, she puts the camel on the roof of the manger scene. Seeing her mistake, her cousins laugh at her, but Grandpa arrives on the scene and hugs her, lauding her for her creativity.
Grandpa's Nativity Scene is a heartwarming Christmas tale that leaves you with a smile on your face. Rick Woodland captures the spirit of Christmas and brings it onto the pages, drawing from his experiences with his granddaughter. Full of good-natured charm, humor, and heart, this Christmas story will bring joy to kids and adults alike. Through an engaging narrative, Woodland masterfully conveys a child's feelings and shows how they feel a bit overwhelmed by the excitement of big family gatherings during the holidays. The protagonist is an adorable child you can't help but love. Her bond with Grandpa is relatable and very uplifting to read about. All in all, this is a wholesome tale of Christmas for all readers, regardless of background. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and you should too!
