God Came Near by Max Lucado is a small book with a big message. The chapters are short making this a fast read. I read this delightful book in one sitting.
From early on many of us were taught God and His son. We never seem to stop and think and meditate on the 33 years of his life whom he also lived as we do, having feelings, getting sick, working with his hands, and as a young boy playing with friends.
The book has two parts: the first deals with the birth of Christ as the word became flesh and dwelt among us, born in a filthy stable in a world of darkness. In each short chapter Max Lucado has written a story relating to Jesus’ life here on earth as he walked among us and in part two how we should be a shining example also of that life.
Max Lucado writes the book with such simplicity that it is so easy to understand, instead of using big theology words and themes: from the story of two trees, to the Tower of Babel, to face the facts and warnings in our life. It’s a book that I feel needs to be read between the lines with understanding and viewing your own life and Christian walk.
