The life of a teenager is a stressful one indeed, but even more so for Cassie. Ghost Horse at Oak Lane Stable by Kerri Lukasavitz follows young equestrian Cassie as she tries to save her horse, NightHawk, after he is injured and can’t compete. Seeing no reason to keep a horse that can’t show, her father wants to sell it; however, Cassie refuses to give up on him. Now, she is determined to win the next competition with a new horse, Ghost Story, to save NightHawk, but things don’t always go according to plan.
Ghost Horse at Oak Lane Stable by Kerri Lukasavitz is a lovely and touching story about a girl and her love for horses sprinkled with teenage angst. As someone who used to love horses as a child, I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. I admire Cassie’s resolve throughout the book, even in the face of adversity, and even more so her love for her horses. Even though she’s only fourteen, Cassie shows such determination and resolve in her training with Ghost Story that you can’t help but root for her. Lukasavitz has a way of writing that just brings out your emotions and makes you sympathize with the characters. I honestly felt so invested in Cassie’s struggles; that demonstrates what kind of book this is. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Ghost Horse at Oak Lane Stable, and I’d recommend it to any horse lovers or anyone looking for a good, wholesome story.
