Get It Done: How to Never Procrastinate Again and Finish Anything You Start by Katie Stone is a book which helps a person decide their priorities at any given time. I needed this book because I tend to take on a lot of projects and then find that I don't have enough time to get them done. I become overwhelmed and lack motivation to accomplish anything. This frustrates my husband, my parents, and especially myself. The reason these tasks remain undone is because I don't get specific enough in my planning. If I make a 'to-do' list, I find that if I cannot accomplish an item in the same day, the list becomes too complicated. For instance, to clean the house would frankly take me longer than one day. Instead, if I break down items into "clean the bathroom: scrub the tub, wipe the mirrors, clean the toilet, mop the floor", those are manageable tasks that I can quickly accomplish and then I will feel as though I've done something.

Stone mentions four other steps with which you can detail your to-do list sufficiently to actually do it. You do need to be realistic as to how much time different tasks will take. Again to use the house cleaning example, there is no way I can get the house cleaned in a day, so maybe I should focus on cleaning one room each day. Not everything will stay spotless, but at least it gets cleaned once every week or two. You may even be able to enlist your family members to each clean a room each day or each week, as well. That would make a huge difference, both in the fact that they are helping lighten the load and also that they might be less likely to mess up a room if they had just cleaned that room or another one. Over time, much will get done and your life will be healthier and happier. I'm almost embarrassed that only through writing this book review did I realize that even two people cleaning one room each per day would help so much more than just doing it all myself. I hope to approach my husband on this in the near future...
