From a Grieving Mother’s Heart by Terri Ann Leidich is a mother's journal after the death of her son. What does one feel when awakened with a telephone call that informs her that her son has been in an accident? Only twenty years old, Terri's son's short life was ended while on a trip to McDonald's, thus beginning his mother's grief. From having to say goodbye, to the funeral, to the days that lay ahead, Terri’s life was changed. Yes, she believes in God and knows her son is in a better place, but she can’t help question why God chose to take her son from her. From celebrating his birthday with friends, to visiting his grave as often as possible, to wondering how the man who hit her son got away with the things he has done, Terri has a hard time living with her grief even though the rest of the family moves on. Through ups and downs, pain and laughter, she manages to get through it.
This is a powerful story in which the author takes the reader on a journey of struggling with the grief that has left her heart with an empty space. Only someone who has gone through such an ordeal can understand what she went through. With such beautiful poetry throughout the book, one cannot help but feel the torment and grief that the mother went through. If you know someone who has gone through this, then I would highly recommend this book as a gift. Not only will this help her to survive, as did Terri, it will make her whole again. It's a beautiful book.
