Following up on the two characters, Craig Keller and Jane Mercer, who kept us turning pages in Adele Royce’s previous book, Camera Ready, this time Royce focuses her narrative on Craig. What a complex guy he is: a dashingly handsome marketing genius with OCD who can’t stop thinking lasciviously when he spots a gorgeous woman, especially Jane. His track record for success with bedding women would be the envy of like-minded males. A few years and tears have passed since Jane and Craig were romantically and professionally involved but now, Jane wants nothing to do with Craig when he brokers an agreement between his company and the one where Jane is a partner. Once again both business and romantic sparks flare into fireworks that lead to Craig’s meltdown. Will the fashion-conscious, womanizing Craig Keller who secretly suffers remorse-laden memories of his dead brother survive the upheaval he has now caused in everyone’s lives? Readers virtually smack their lips in delicious anticipation of what happens next.
If there’s one thing you can be sure of when you pick up For Position Only by Adele Royce, it’s that you will be entertained. And if you’re the romantic kind, count on Royce to give you all sides of romance, including the sex (tastefully but realistically captured), along with the hurts, arguments, misinterpretations, and thoughts most lovers leave unsaid…except for what they share with readers. Those who enjoy detailed descriptions of what characters in this corporate world are wearing will get plenty of that, along with amusing looks at some of the more creative pot-smoking types. Dialogue and complicated plot twists flow easily under Royce’s pen. She is an excellent writer who knows how to entertain readers while enlightening the uninformed about what goes on inside boardrooms and therapists' offices. For Position Only is a most enjoyable sequel to Camera Ready. Well done, Adele Royce!
