Allison Rose’s Fly Free: Light of Faerie Part One is an extraordinary story about Sevelle, a faerie with a rare form of magic that can heal the connection between the faeries and the magic in their land. With a little guidance from Jae, her guardian and someone who is also like a sister to her, Sevelle tries to figure out how to use her magic to save her Faerie Court from the darkness that is slowly taking their lives. Being the so-called “Light of Day”, she is meant to someday rule the Day Court. Sevelle wants to prove to her mother, the Glorious, that she deserves to be the heir and she wants nothing more than to solve the problems of their court peacefully. But as the rebellion gets worse, Sevelle’s mother wants to face them head-on with violence. Hoping to solve everything without resorting to force, Sevelle and Jae agree to a proposition made by the rebel leader’s son, Lex. Thus begins a journey that leads them to discover dark secrets that will change their lives forever.
Fly Free: Light of Faerie Part One immediately caught my attention with its simple but stunning book cover and intriguing summary. Allison Rose created a fascinating blend of romance and fantasy filled with valuable and eye-opening lessons. The characters were all well-defined and distinctive. Each had their own unique set of strengths and weaknesses, their differing personalities and the role they each played in the story really made them unforgettable to me. Sevelle’s relationship with these characters showed me that the power of love can help bring out the best in you and other people. It really played a big part in the development of the story. The pacing was smooth and the plot was surprising, it kept me at the edge of my seat! The story was so exciting and with every page turned, I looked forward to what would happen next. Overall, it was definitely a brilliant and well-written piece. Well done!
