The fourth edition of Financial Accounting Essentials You Always Wanted to Know by Kalpesh Ashar is now available. It is divided into five chapters and covers the traditional concepts found in Financial Accounting and Financial Statements texts. Starting with accounting systems, it gives an overview of the three primary financial statements: Balance Sheets, Income Statements, and Statements of Cash flows. Before providing a thorough description of each, it ends with a helpful glossary. Also, each chapter concludes with a “Chapter Summary.” Links to additional material appear at the end of each chapter that supplements the material. As in any good textbook, practice exercises are included and intend to polish memory recall of the discussed topics.
The language is clear, precise, and succinct. Kalpesh Ashar wastes no time with superfluous language and distills the concepts of Financial Accounting down to their nuts and bolts. The topics and paragraphs are in easily digestible sections, and the body text is composed in a readable serif font. The text introduces the material quickly and belabors no points unnecessarily. The concepts of Financial Accounting are essential to both business owners and business students; this text is beneficial to both. Headings are easy to follow, and keywords are highlighted and emphasize the most important terms. There are many Financial Accounting Textbooks available, and this one is among the best. It is easy to use and is an asset to anyone who adds it to their shelf. If you need the ins and outs of Financial Accounting, then Financial Accounting Essentials You Always Wanted to Know is a beneficial text.
