Felix the Clever Fox by Mr. Sam tells the tale of a determined fox who comes up with a solution to protect his friends in the forest when he discovers a hunter setting traps to kill them. All the animals in the forest live in harmony and take care of the forest, their beloved home. So, when Felix realizes his friends are in danger, he thinks quickly and is proactive. This illustrated fable also teaches the importance of forgiveness through the response of the animals to the hunter’s pleas. The story is short and to the point but successfully conveys its message.
The book is colorful and eye-catching with its different shades of green, which is fitting as it is best suited for children between the ages of two and six. It has some nice lessons, such as the benefits of teamwork, quick thinking, bravery, kindness, and love. It also teaches that we shouldn’t just take from nature but should also take care of nature. From the treatment the hunter received, young readers will also be encouraged to hear both sides of every story. I also liked the detailed depictions of the characters. The book has three fun activities at the end to keep children engaged, plus, the answers are provided. These activities would be lovely to keep children busy in the classroom. I recommend Felix the Clever Fox by Mr. Sam to parents, guardians, and teachers who want to teach children the important values mentioned above and encourage them to care for nature.
