Fashion Entrepreneurship: The Creation of the Global Fashion Business (Mastering Fashion Management) by Neri Karra is a remarkable business book offering a detailed picture of the fashion industry's past, present, and future. It's the first book that looks at fashion designers as entrepreneurs, and it presents the connection between art, fashion, and beauty and what they have produced. It examines the challenges to the fashion industry during the two World Wars and the Great Depression, the development of fashion entrepreneurship in Paris, America, Italy, and the rise of Japanese fashion designers signaling the difference between the Western and Japanese entrepreneurial approaches to business. It contains case studies summarizing the background, entrepreneurial profile, and the key success factors to the most important key figures in the fashion industry.
Fashion Entrepreneurship: The Creation of the Global Fashion Business by Neri Karra is the most comprehensive and interesting analysis of the fashion industry I have ever read. It's fascinating as it presents how early fashion entrepreneurs could read society and deliver what it needed, especially in revolutionary times. It's inspiring as it guides anyone striving to succeed today in the world of fashion. There are many reasons why Neri Karra's book is a must-read, yet the most important one is that it presents the entrepreneurial capabilities for fashion business success, showing to the existing and future fashion entrepreneurs how to develop such capabilities themselves. Thus, I recommend it to anyone interested in reading a beautifully structured book about the careers of the greatest fashion entrepreneurs from the nineteenth century onward and about what has revolutionized the clothing industry.
