Falcon Pilot is a work of fiction in the science fiction, action, and adventure genres, and is the third novel of the Orion Federation Series. The work is best suited to the general adult reading audience. Penned by author Jack Heape, the plot follows Jake and the Kestrels as they undertake a perilous mission to end a civil war and save the Orion Federation. Led by the disillusioned and vengeful Lord Jacob Van de Harvey, aka ‘The Slayer of Sable,’ the Kestrels face unexpected confrontations with their nemesis, The Collective, as they strive to secure the Federation's future amidst chaos and conflict.
Author Jack Heape has a natural knack for pace and timing in an adrenaline-fueled journey into the heart of interstellar conflict and redemption. Heape expertly balances intense action sequences with intricate character development, drawing readers deeper into Jake's tumultuous journey as we get to know him on a deeper level and root for him all the more. The stakes are sky-high, yet there’s a grounded sense of credibility to the perils they face thanks to the conviction and detail of Heape’s vivid worldbuilding and inner story logic. Heape carries this same conviction into the narrative voice of the piece, which marries well with the compelling dialogue exchanges between characters, infusing the plot with a sense of urgency and suspense at every turn. For me personally, Van de Harvey was a brilliant character and a big favorite who leaped off the pages for all the right reasons. Overall, Falcon Pilot delivers a pulse-pounding conclusion to a brilliant sci-fi series, and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
