Mardine Perrins’ Expiration Date is set in a future that is trying to recover from the overexploitation and destruction of resources, making this book perfect for dystopia fans. For a hundred years, everyone has been born with their expiration date marked somewhere on their body. Suddenly, babies are born with expiry dates that are only a few days from their birth. Elisa watches the agonizing birth of her cousin’s baby, whose date is a mere three days away, and vows to find the source of the mysterious expiration dates and the cause of these early deaths. Join sisters Ashlei and Elisa as they embark on their quest to seek the truth and on the way find romance, heartbreak, and more than they bargained for.

Mardine Perrins had me hooked from the first word to the last. Many cups of tea went cold as I escaped into the action-packed chapters of Expiration Date. Perrins adds just enough realism to make me connect with the book, but heaps on originality and fresh ideas that made me fall in love with it. I enjoyed her characters because they are real and human. They aren’t stereotypical heroes and villains but are all flawed individuals who want to do what is right. I wanted to cry with Shauna and fight with Elisa. This is a book that never disappointed me. There was always something exciting about to happen and I didn’t know what to do with myself when it was over.
