Everything You Always Wanted to Know: About Santa Claus, The Tooth Fairy and The Easter Bunny by Cynthia MacGregor is a great resource for parents who hope to encourage the dreams and make-believe of Santa, The Tooth Fairy and The Easter Bunny in their young children. I remember as a young girl loving the idea of all three fantastical characters and it was literally heart-breaking when I found out the reality. Childhood is a wondrous place, and these characters make it all the more delightful; like fairy tales and nursery rhymes, it wouldn’t be the same without them. However, children are growing up faster nowadays, there is more information at hand, and questions are always asked. This book is a great question and answer tool for parents when they get those really tricky queries from their young ones, when doubt starts to play in their minds, and you want them to hold onto that fantasy just a little bit longer. The answers given are simplistic and believable, and certainly ease young curious minds.
The illustrations throughout this book are also lovely, and Lynn Costelloe has used soft colours and uncomplicated characters which make the book engaging and pleasing to the eye. I can imaging siblings reading through this together, gathering the information they need to help them truly believe in the spirit of Christmas or the joy of Easter. Everything You Always Wanted to Know: About Santa Claus, The Tooth Fairy and The Easter Bunny is a truly wonderful idea of a book which I am sure will be a hit with both young and old.
