When Arial is accidentally shoved into the path of an express train, she is more focused on the eyes of her rescuer than the fact that death nearly ended her life. Who is her champion? Why is he so familiar? In the days following the train episode, Arial continuously comes in contact with her hero. Growing up in the foster care community, trust doesn’t come naturally to Arial. Her friends are few and far between and she finds life more comfortable without a social life. So, the friends she does have are shocked when suddenly Arial is starry-eyed and willing to allow this handsome stranger into her heart. Aleks is impossible to ignore. He has the allure of a Greek god and the aura of an angel. Which he is. Once Arial accepts his true identity, she knows without a doubt that “God sent me an angel. My angel and I had a love that stretched beyond physical and spiritual boundaries. A love created special by God. A love given because we were both loved by God.”
Eros by Steph Foster is one of the most unusual stories of faith I have ever read. In explaining the various types of love, Steph Foster includes a lesson to her readers of a romance that goes beyond our Valentine's Day image. While embracing a religious theme to validate her story, Foster also provides a movingly successful narrative of the existing foster care program. Aleks has watched over Arial her entire life and when he can longer remain hidden, his devotion to her becomes apparent in a magical love story. Full of fresh dialogue and realistic themes, this is a wonderful novel.
