Elven GodStones is the first entry in the GodStone Trilogy by Kenneth Van Lawrence, a delightful treat for fans of urban fantasy. Sabastian is among the few dozen families to escape their Elven traditions and seek wealth and fortune by establishing nightclubs with Elven themes and companies that produce magical GodStone rings. He is at the head of the biggest Godstone Company and father to twins, Traven and Vonen Kristensen. Although the twins live a life of affluence, they are not free from the wrath of the Elven world. Powerful Elven Mages come striking, intent on taking over their company and retrieving everything that is Elven. Coupled with the strength of Hannah, a woman Traven met at a charity ball and who has developed a strong bond with him, can the twins be any match for the powerful Elven Mages?
Kenneth Van Lawrence’s novel is perfect from many angles. It is the perfect length for a fantasy novel, with an excellent structure that allows the reader to enjoy the story, each chapter at a time. The short and enticing chapters are well constructed to make for an enjoyable reading experience, each ending on an intriguing note that invites the reader to turn to the next chapter. The conflict is integrated into the story in a masterful way, allowing readers to enjoy the compelling cast of characters while being absorbed in a fast-paced and interesting plot. The language is beautiful, crafted with colorful images and scenes with intense action. Readers will love the originality in this story, the novelty of the concept, and the enticing writing. Elven GodStones captured my attention from the start to the very last sentence of the story, a very enjoyable read.
