K.D. Rose, an award-winning poet, presents a striking collection titled DreamPoem. The poems explore life mostly as we know it and its shifting dimensions. Themes range from social issues to nature and various poignant matters. A personal touch is added to some poems and the tone varies from fury to sadness and sometimes becomes reflective. In the poem "Words I Don't Understand," Rose reflects on social injustices suffered by blacks and states "Who is The Man, Low-key, high-key for BLM (Black Lives Matter)." In the poem “Just Shy of Eighty,” a personal side of the poet is revealed when she reflects on the deteriorating health of her father. At eighty, he is hospitalized and the weight of old age issues has cropped up. Still, the poet notes that life should be felt and enjoyed. “I think, at fifty, life shouldn't feel like it's going downhill.”

K.D. Rose’s words are powerful, distinctive and telling. They are expressive and fast paced. From politics to the speed of time, the poet instills the idea that life is a gift. It is here today and every opportunity should be taken. The poems are profound and they include heavy symbolism which got me thinking. Some are strange and others contain heavy language. The blend of diverse themes with vast meanings makes the collection dramatic and evocative. As the poet states, “It’s not even like puzzle pieces; it’s like an invisible puzzle that changes shape.” Life shifts, changes, and moves in different forms. A stirring and thought-provoking collection.
