Dreamadillo: A Bedtime Rhyme is a children’s picture book written and illustrated by Tina Marie Bevan. Armadillo may be asleep in the sands of his desert home, but when he dreams, he is far away up in the clouds. In his dreams he’s known as Dreamadillo, and he has a very important job to fill. When children send him their dream requests, he puts them in his pocket and makes them happen. Dreamadillo can also tell if a dream is bad or good, and he makes sure to banish the bad ones. He loves to save the dreams he shares with children, especially the dreams with unicorns, butterflies, seahorses and rainbows, and he keeps them in jars that are brightly colored. If a child uses their imagination and believes strongly enough, even the biggest dreams can come true.
Tina Marie Bevan’s children’s picture book, Dreamadillo: A Bedtime Rhyme, is a marvelous blend of color, magic and verse as the dreaming armadillo goes off on adventures in Dreamland. Bevan's illustrations are awesome! Each panel is beautifully colored, and the paintings are meticulously detailed and realistic. I found it hard to turn each page as there was so much to look at in every corner and hidden bit of picture. Bevan’s paintings of children are inspired as are her animal portraits, from the marvelous unicorns and seahorses to the very expressive rabbit slippers on Dreamadillo’s feet. Dreamadillo: A Bedtime Rhyme is a grand book for sharing at bedtime or story time, filled with lovely images and lots of inspiration. I love this book! And I most highly recommend it.
