Michael Scanlan is a businessman who is handsome and whose past is shrouded in secrecy. It is at that time Cole Laurence comes to town for a story about Scanlan. His original intention is not to learn about Scanlan, but to investigate a crime by drug dealers. Kay is attracted to Cole, though she fears about her heart being broken again. As Cole's investigations deepen, they find themselves in a dangerous position where both their lives are at stake. Will Kay let go of her fear and fall in love with Cole? The plot has everything - romance, betrayal, devastation, hurt, drugs, suspense, intrigue and the mob that will keep readers glued to the story till the very end. The main characters - Kay, Cole and Michael - are memorable. The narration is detailed and descriptive, making the story come alive. The plot is sophisticated and the drug angle makes it complicated and intriguing. The writing is fluid and the pace is good. There is never a dull moment in the book as Kay fights Michael's attraction for her to be with Cole; as well as the organized crime angle by the illegal drug operators. A good book that has many layers to its plot as well as some attractive characters.
