Doc, the Little Tractor by Debbie Stofer is geared for toddlers and young children. Doc works many years on the farm and never complains. But as time passes, the farm grows and grows until it is too much for Doc to handle. Oh, no! A new huge tractor replaces him! Is this a good thing and what will happen to Doc? The farmer gives him a new paint job and a new job. Children will delight in Doc’s new job.
What an adorable book Doc, the Little Tractor is! Written by Debbie Stofer and illustrated by Travis Shanks, it will be any little tyke’s joy. Doc, the Little Tractor is written in an interactive format in rhyme and rhythm. I found myself singing the short rhyming sentences and enjoying myself. Children will love it too, as well as begin predicting the next word on some of the pages. They will delight in searching for hidden hearts and in discovering what’s different in the illustrations. Doc, the Little Tractor is a great resource for relating to school activities on seasons and the idea of being special.
Ms. Stofer has connected the story to the Bible as well as to the Farmer’s Market. At the beginning of Doc, the Little Tractor, Ms. Stofer provides advice to parents for sharing the story in a positive manner and at the end of the book, parents will find activities to strengthen the ideas shared in the story. I recommend this book to parents and grandparents searching for a fun, interactive, and educational story to share with their children or grandchildren.
