Divided by Suzanne Lowe is the third book in the Seventeen series and concerns a town where the inhabitants are all children. The adults had all succumbed to a virus that only appeared to attack older people. As there were only children in town, they had to run it. To the main protagonist Lexi, the stranger who arrived looked like a tall man but turned out to be a woman called Rebekka. The stranger caused a stir among the children as they had not seen an adult for many years. Lexi wondered how Rebekka could have survived the virus. Lexi was apprehensive about whether accepting Rebekka into their town was such a good idea, but the other children were excited about having an adult around. As soon as Rebekka settled in, things start changing, but not in a good way.

Divided by Suzanne Lowe is a suspenseful novel with a vivid account of the action, especially the relationship between Lexi and Rebekka, which was well-written. The turn of events and twists were eerie and unexpected. I sat on tenterhooks toward the end of the spell-bounding story. The dialogue was catchy, especially that featuring Rebekka. Her character provides a fantastic antagonist and her interaction with the children was wickedly funny. She was like an older sister taking full advantage of the immaturity of her younger siblings and their need to please or be cool. The build-up of the plot to the climax was proof of Lowe’s experience in writing for this age group. It will appeal to young adults, the intended readers, but also to older persons.

Divided by Suzanne Lowe is the third installment in the post-apocalyptic Seventeen series, where a devastating virus called the KV17 spreads worldwide, causing death to adults. The story takes place in the Australian Outback, where we meet a group of children working together to survive in a world without laws and where water and food are scarce. It's been many months since they've seen or heard from an adult. Even so, the group, led by older members, runs their town, Jasper's Bay, efficiently. But one hot afternoon, from a distance, seventeen-year-old Lexi spots a tall woman who somehow survived the KV17 catastrophe approaching their town. Her name is Rebekka, and she claims to have come searching for a place to stay. But with the stranger has come untold trouble and a malicious plot that could leave the peaceful, productive, and happy town on the verge of turmoil.

Good novels can provide an escape from the stresses of ordinary life. Thanks to its gripping plot, endearing characters, and relentless intrigue, this young adult adventure series is the ideal illustration of such a getaway. Suzanne Lowe's realistic dialogue and skillfully crafted, vivid imagery get you hooked from beginning to end. The story explores interesting and educational themes that expand on the consequences of one's choices, the value of friendship and togetherness, careful decision-making, forgiveness, and much more. Despite having a wide cast of characters, they are all very well developed and have substantial parts to play in the plot—even the little dog Polo. Though this is the third book in the series, it reads as a standalone. Lowe provided sneak peeks into books one and two and more of her other works at the end. If you are searching for a gripping read with an excellent blend of mystery, suspense, adventure, and action, check out Divided (Seventeen Series Book Three).

Divided is the third book of Suzanne Lowe's Seventeen Series. The world population has been decimated as children who reach the age of seventeen soon get infected by the KV17 virus. In the Australian Outback, a small group of kids has made the town of Jasper's Bay their sanctuary, with sisters Lexi and Hadley being two of the more influential members of the close-knit community. Lexi and her friend Braydon already have the virus, which they keep at bay using the locally-made bush remedy. When a stranger named Rebekka arrives in the town, the children are excited to see an adult after almost two years. But bit by bit, Rebekka begins to assume control over Jasper's Bay, using divisive tactics to split the inhabitants. Will Lexi and Hadley be able to fight back or lose the town to a tyrannical maniac?

As a fan of post-apocalyptic dystopian tales, Divided was precisely what I was looking for and more. Imagine a young adult version of the Mad Max movie franchise in novel form, and you will end up with something like the Seventeen Series. Suzanne Lowe has built a believably hostile world where trust and resources are scarce, and each day brings a new battle for survival. The narrative is nicely paced, with a plot that immerses you from the first page to the last. The characters have well-defined personalities that shine in the most opportune moments. Lexi is someone who you want to root for. The ending was shocking, but in hindsight, it feels like the best outcome under the circumstances. Recommended to readers who love young adult dystopian fiction.
