Discipleship with C.S. Lewis: A Guide to Mere Christianity for Small Groups and Mentoring Relationships by Joel Woodruff is a thought-provoking and profound book that gives informative insights on Christian behavior, on what they believe, and other aspects of Christianity. The book provides a foundation for the idea that morality - the concept of right and wrong - points to a moral Creator. The author uses biblical passages that address the key themes of Christian beliefs and practices. He believes the study of the Bible is the ultimate means of learning and applying God's truth in our lives and encourages readers to find other motivating passages from the Bible which will help them deepen and highlight the truths discussed.
The approach to this religious topic is informative and engaging without making it too preachy and boring. What makes Discipleship with C.S. Lewis by Joel Woodruff interesting is the concluding observations after each chapter that help to outline and review what has been read and understood. The book is a good way to explore whether God exists, what he is like, and why the world is going wrong if a good God made it. The questions make the book interactive and play an important role for readers and students who come for Bible classes. There are also tips on how to go about the discipleship program, either on a one-on-one basis or the Triad/Quad approach. There are suggested activities for different types of groups and these suggestions will help determine the requirements of the participants and conduct them accordingly. The book is a good tool for both believers and seekers and can be used in Bible classes. It will make readers ponder and observe the created world and try talking to God. It is a good way to experience authentic spiritual growth and evolve to become mature followers of Jesus Christ.
