Didi is a cute and adorable pup with one problem; she’s an extremely picky eater. Every day is a struggle to find just the right food that Didi might eat. There are so many flavors, meat, and veggie mixes to try as well as different types of bowls but nothing seems to taste or look good to the pup. Worried, Didi’s owner takes her to the vet, only to find out that her dog is playing tricks and is the one training her. The vet tells Didi’s mom that dry kibble and a steel bowl is all she’ll need. Once her mom figured Didi out, they no longer had trouble with her being a picky eater.
I thought Didi The Picky Puppy was an adorable read that I can definitely relate to. I have my own picky pup at home and she drives me up a wall sometimes! Didi was a great character to base the story upon, and I believe that children will enjoy reading about the dilemma Didi’s mom is facing with her picky pup. I appreciated that Didi’s human took her to the vet to find out what was going on instead of continuing to guess and not think it was a real problem. There are some picky dogs out there but there’s also a chance that something could be wrong. It’s always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your pets. The illustrations are beautifully done and fit perfectly with the storyline. They are bright and colorful which will really capture the young reader's attention. Overall, I think Kate Maher has done a wonderful job with this fun read and I can't wait to read more stories about Didi.
