Develop Charisma, Be Popular: How To Be Popular And Make Friends Easily by Barry Bede is a short, quirky read about increasing one’s charisma and charm. In the introduction, the author states: “This book contains proven steps and strategies on how to be popular and make friends easily… This is your path towards a more dynamic and interesting social life. All you have to do is learn about a series of methods that work and assimilate them into your personality.” The author goes on to define what is charisma and what are personality characteristics of popular people. Using humor, giving genuine compliments, building rapport and taking initiative are all ways to increase your popularity and presence. Bede explains that non-verbal communication is almost as important as verbal communication. Body language, facial expressions and attitudes all play a huge role in how other people view us. The author concludes with a chapter regarding how to become more charismatic in only four weeks.
I found Develop Charisma, Be Popular: How To Be Popular And Make Friends Easily to be a brief but informative book. The length makes it ideal for a lunchtime or before bedtime read. The author has a motivational and easy-to-follow tone. He presents a variety of ways for readers to increase their approachability and charisma, and thus hopefully increase popularity and gain more friends as a result. I can see how the information presented (if used in a genuine manner) could help people in social settings to gain more confidence and interact with others. Recommended for those looking to increase their assertiveness and confidence.
