Delos: The Moon’s Eye by Blake Miller is the second book in the series. Cynthia and Kaden are the impossible twins. They lived two separate lives - one in California and the other in England - with different parents, but everything changed once they turned sixteen. Suddenly they were swept into a world beyond anything they ever imagined. This time the twins are given a new mission: to seek the whereabouts of the Lil. To do so, they’ll need to venture into the dangerous woods and receive help from their closest allies as they face new challenges and the daunting threats of a dangerous quest in an attempt to retrieve the only thing that can save the Lil’s life. Should be easy, right? The only problem is that for several thousand years, everyone who embarked on the quest didn’t make it back alive.

The first book introduced the unlikely twins - two teenagers sharing the same extraordinary phenomenon. They have formed a bond that has grown stronger through the various dangers they’ve faced. Despite this, they’re still normal teenagers and are still processing the events that have occurred. This helps to ground the story and humanize the two teens in their struggle against extraordinary situations. The writing style incorporates various features such as riddles from fairies which fit well with the tone of the story and the adventurous format. Blake Miller weaves in components from two genres with magical aspects such as their abilities and travels to other places through a portal.

Balancing the magic is the science fiction setting with other worlds, gold from another planet, a potential threat to the cosmos, and various characters experiencing the earth. These combine to create an expansive world that has creative world-building and strong character development, bringing the setting to life. The backdrop has different otherworldly features such as screaming jumpin’ fish, empty ponds, and a sick forest. The quest comes with many dangers which increase as the story progresses through various creatures and beings which all pose different threats. The Moon’s Eye is teased throughout the story as an incredible astrological event that comes once in a lifetime. Delos: The Moon’s Eye blends different elements from science fiction and fantasy to create a non-stop adventure that is fast-paced, humorous, and clever.
