Death by Chowdah (The Shipwreck Cafe Mysteries) by Donna Walo Clancy is a brilliantly clever sleuth mystery that includes murder, lost treasure, and hauntings. Jay has bought a lighthouse on Cape Cod and intends to turn part of it into a restaurant and bar. After a few unsettling encounters with the previous lightkeeper, Jay begins looking into the history of his new property. When the legend of the lighthouse and its former occupants' surfaces and the local historian is murdered, Jay's new enterprise makes the headlines. A sinister plot is unfolding, and Jay's lighthouse and business venture are smack dab in the center of it. With so much at stake, Jay begins searching for answers. The only one that holds the key to the legend is now dead and haunts the lighthouse. Will Jay be able to convince the ghost to help him before he becomes the next victim?
Death by Chowdah (The Shipwreck Cafe Mysteries) by Donna Walo Clancy is an irresistible and delightful cozy mystery with an enchanting backdrop and engaging characters. The plot is intriguing and the charming quality of the storyline is captivating. I loved the characters and enjoyed the interactions between the past and the present inhabitants of the lighthouse. The familial participation in Jay's business venture and the issues that go with it were interesting and added an amusing and realistic touch. This novel is complete with ghosts, treasure, murders and is an entertaining read. I enjoyed reading it and recommend it to those who love a good cozy mystery.
