Dangerous is a romantic suspense thriller written by Lorrie Farrelly. It's set in Central California in a small town called Chima Valley. Cam Starrett is a former LAPD officer who's seen too much misery and is making a fresh start for himself as the new sheriff. On his way into town, he comes across a truck with a horse trailer overturned in a ditch, and he can hear a horse screaming from inside the trailer. As he approaches the scene, he sees Merry Hayden, a young woman, attempting to reach the trapped driver. After the stressful events leading to the arrival of the police and emergency vehicles, the two somehow find themselves passionately kissing. As they've both had disastrous romantic histories, this is an embarrassing and awkward position for each of them, especially when they realize they're living and working in the same town.

Lorrie Farrelly's romantic thriller is an enjoyable and fast-paced novel. Farrelly makes central California come alive with her descriptions of the grassy hills and the small-town atmosphere of Chima Valley. Her two main characters, Cam and Merry, are both strong, though flawed characters, who alternately cling to each other and spark dangerously, and it's entertaining to watch them work out their problems. The underlying racial tensions both in town and school are well-handled and realistic. Merry's role as the School Guidance Counselor also adds to the realistic feel of this work as she works within the school, the community, and with Cam. Dangerous is fun and exciting to read, and I felt involved and interested from the very first sentence.

Dangerous by Lorrie Farrelly is a fast-paced love story based on the characters Cam Starrett and Merry Hayden. These two concerned citizens who live in Chima Valley met under tragic circumstances. As a policeman, Cam arrived at an accident scene where Merry was trying to assist the driver of a horse trailer which had overturned. Unfortunately, they were unable to save the driver’s life or the horse attached to the trailer. However, on discovering that the horse was pregnant, they both delivered a lovely foal. This connection between the two characters was immediate and took both of them off guard. Ms. Farrelly’s book showcases the budding relationship between the two characters. Their paths crossed again when a student, who enrolled at the high school where Merry works as a counselor, was intercepted with a knife. These two sincere souls continued to help the villagers when fire was deliberately spread and threatened to engulf the entire town.

Ms. Farrelly did a good job of colorfully describing her two main characters. I liked the fact that she revealed their emotional vulnerabilities throughout the novel. This serves to promote a realistic feel to the book and thus make the characters come to life. The reader can easily identify with both Cam and Merry. You can glimpse into their uncertainties about whether they should take the plunge and thoroughly explore the explosive feelings that they have for each other. I appreciate that Ms. Farrelly took the time to really develop these characters and reveal their soft, sincere inner natures. Despite their public positions as counselor and policeman, they are both presented as honest, down to earth personalities beneath the veneer of professional protocol. Dangerous is a very lovely tale of two people who stubbornly reject their feelings for each other at first. I would encourage everyone to indulge in this interesting love story.

In a bid to run away from his miserable and devastated life in LA, Cam interviewed for a new job in Chima Valley, California, trying to put as much distance between him and his past life as possible and hoping for a fresh start. What he had not expected were the events on his drive into the new town that somehow ended up with him kissing a beautiful blonde. After an unexpected but very intoxicating kiss, they parted ways, both of them in denial of the way the kiss had affected them. However, because of their jobs, their paths crossed again, and they could not deny the obvious attraction, but neither of them was keen to get into a new relationship and open up old wounds left by past relationships. Now they have to work together and hope that they do not mix business with pleasure.

Dangerous by Lorrie Farrelly is a masterfully well-written love story. It is a beautiful story about a man and woman whose unexpected meeting would go on to change their lives forever and also the lives of all around them. The excellent blend of intriguing and easy-to-relate-to characters and their different personalities, coupled with an outstanding plot, takes you from this world into the fascinating scenery of the city of Chima Valley, giving you a very vivid image and a thrilling reading experience. It is an amazing love story with a fairy tale kind of feeling that evokes real emotions and a beautiful connection with the characters.
