Dancing on the Moon by Beverly Banfield is an exciting children's book about a young dancer named Paige. One night, Paige doesn't go to bed; instead Paige goes to the moon. She is dancing on the moon when she sees a child in an astronaut suit go by. The child ignores her. Paige then sees a Shuffler, but it ignores her too. But then a Stubbler sees her. She did not want to dance with a Stubbler, but it would be rude not to, so she dances with it, but then he leaves her mid-song. She starts dancing with other creatures, but they abandon her mid-song too. Paige is rather upset about it. What is going on?
I really enjoyed reading Dancing on the Moon by Beverly Banfield. The book is very well written and descriptive. It is really creative, and there are many cool creatures that the author has come up with. The story is exciting and full of suspense. The characters are likeable. Paige is very polite, as she dances with the Stubbler, even though she doesn't want to. I liked that all of the creatures had different personalities and different dancing styles. The pictures are very colourful, and help to depict each scene and each creature. The book is well developed and well thought out. Children, especially those who take dance classes, will enjoy reading this. I would recommend this book to all young readers.
