Daily Happy Living: How to be Happy Each Day in spite of the Challenges We Face Daily, by using the Joycentrix System is a philosophical self-help book written by Gopi Menon. Menon surveys the attitudes fostered by established religions, which often posit a view that people are made to suffer in this world, and counters it with his own assertions that a world created by God would be designed for its inhabitants' happiness and well-being. He challenges people to reach beyond the religious beliefs that were indoctrinated in them as children and work toward building lives that are filled with happiness and joy. He reaches back to the ancient Greeks to define happiness and goes from there to show how to become happier and more fulfilled. Fearing the wrath of an angry god or the fires of hell is not conducive to joy, he reasons. Rather, by considering happiness and spiritual growth in this life to be one’s reason for being and not worrying about the next life, one can live and grow.
Gopi Menon, author of Daily Happy Living, is an electrical engineer by trade, but the wisdom and insights he shares with his readers in this inspirational book reveal his philosophical nature. While he expresses his own beliefs about God, at no time does he try to convince or persuade his readers to adopt those beliefs. His aim in this book is to share his insights into the attainment of happiness, and he does quite an impressive job. Each chapter is filled with concepts, ideas and strategies for improving one’s life, and many chapters include helpful tasks at their conclusions to allow the reader to personalize what he’s read. As a result of reading Menon's book, I’ve become a fan of his Joycentrix System. Daily Happy Living: How to be Happy Each Day in spite of the Challenges We Face Daily, by using the Joycentrix System does what the title says, and it does so in a literate and conversational fashion that is never preachy or judgmental. It’s highly recommended.
